  • When searching for a gearbox, there are several criteria
    that need to be considered:

  • These are the number of splines on the input shaft or is it
smooth, that is a shear bolt (the input shaft is the shaft
that attaches to the PTO drive line).

  • The diameter and the number of splines on the output
    shaft (blade shaft).

  • The number of deck mounting bolts and their position on
    the gear box.

  • Gearboxes vary with the application. When two gearboxes
are used on 8' and 10' rigid deck cutters,   they must be
matched in exact gear tooth count. On these boxes the
blade arcs overlap. If they aren't  the same, the blades will
strike during the operation causing damage to the blades,
    boxes and the  cutter itself.

  • If you have any questions at all regarding gearbox
suitability, whether your new box is compatible  with your
existing box, please call us at 937-242-6637.
